Imagine having a store and leaving it open day and night, without any type of security, camera, or protection. That's exactly what happens with brands that don't invest in digital protection, after all, their digital presence is as essential as their physical one.
However, even so, many companies still ignore these risks, either because they believe they are safe or because of a lack of knowledge about the seriousness of the problem.
Come with Branddi and understand more about how this positioning can cost the profitability and credibility of your business!
The research

According to a study conducted by the VULTUS Cybersecurity Ecosystem, 80% of medium-sized and large Brazilian companies do not have a structured and integrated plan to face digital attacks. In addition, 67% of them do not have processes dedicated to cyber protection, and 55% do not even monitor threats on an ongoing basis.
In other words, analyzing these numbers, we can understand that most of the country's brands are exposed and vulnerable to the action of unfair competitors, malicious partners, fraudsters and violators: in fact, the probability of suffering a serious attack in the coming months is 7.3 on a scale of 0 to 10.
But why does that actually happen?
Lack of awareness
Even today, many brands believe that digital threats are an inseparable part of their digital presence. In other words, they see these attacks as inevitable, with which they simply have to live with.
This mentality, while common, is a big mistake. After all, a company's digital presence must be viewed like any other aspect of the business: something that needs to be protected and managed with care, and considering threats as something “common” ends up leading many brands to underestimate the risks and not take appropriate measures to protect themselves.
Constant evolution of online scams
Currently, when we talk about online scams aimed at companies, we are not referring only to simple and visibly false attempts. That's because these offenders and violators they already use advanced techniques, such as highly personalized phishing through Deepfakes, social engineering, and commercial violations such as Brand Bidding.
In other words, it's no exaggeration to say that the traditional protection of companies has already been greatly overcome and has become generic when compared to current digital threats.
Fear of the costs of the process
The idea that investing in digital security is a high expense, especially when the attack has not yet occurred, makes many entrepreneurs underestimate the importance of protection and prefer to “leave it for later”. However, this view can be extremely damaging in the long run.
After all, the cost of not adopting a digital protection plan is much greater than the initial investment in protection, as the consequences can be devastating: interruption of operations, damage to reputation, and even fines and penalties due to failures in the protection of sensitive information.
In other words, investing in this protection is a preventive step: the sooner companies adopt effective practices and solutions, the lower the costs in the future, both financial and in terms of damage to the image.
Priority in other areas
Many companies end up prioritizing other areas of the business, such as sales growth, marketing, or innovation, while neglecting digital security. This is without thinking that digital protection has a direct impact on these sectors and, therefore, must be a fundamental part of any growth strategy.
In other words, by integrating digital shielding from the start, companies not only protect their data and operations, but also gain a competitive advantage by demonstrating commitment to the trust and protection of their customers.
Lack of specialized human resources
The shortage of specialists in the area of digital protection is a limiting factor, as it requires a team trained to monitor, manage, and respond to incidents in real time.
Without these professionals, many companies, especially small and medium-sized companies (which are also targets for these attacks), have no way of implementing the best security practices or even realizing the seriousness of these risks.
Prepare your brand for the future
As we saw above, there are several answers to why many brands are underestimating the importance of online protection. However, it is essential to understand that the digital landscape is constantly evolving, and so are the threats: that is, at some point your business will be the victim of these attacks and the only question will be when this will happen, not if it will happen.
But don't worry: it's still time to chase after lost time and resources and put your business at the forefront of online protection. After all, brands that anticipate digital risks are better positioned to take advantage of market opportunities and grow securely, without fearing the impact of a possible attack.
