Here at Branddi, we constantly talk about how trademark violations negatively impact not only the performance and image of the affected brands, but also socially, across the country. Proof of this is that, in 2024, we faced a loss of R$ 468 billion, a historic record of losses caused by piracy.

However, these violations are not just a national problem: the entire world faces similar challenges when it comes to the protection of brands and the fight against counterfeiting.
And it was in the face of this scenario that Brazil and France decided to join forces in a bilateral agreement to strengthen the fight against piracy and intellectual property violations.
Come with Branddi and learn more about this partnership!
What is this initiative?
At the end of last year, the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) met with France's National Anti-Contrefaçon Committee (CNAC) to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding, with the objective of creating international cooperation in the fight against piracy and trademark violation.
To this end, a complete collaboration agenda was established focused on strengthening intellectual property protection through the exchange of strategic information, technical training, and the development and improvement of public policies focused on the topic.
In addition, the partnership seeks to increase society's awareness of the negative impacts of piracy and counterfeiting, which go beyond financial losses, affecting consumer security, job creation, tax collection, and business development.
The impacts of brand infringement and piracy for companies
As mentioned above, the business environment is one of the main victims of piracy and trademark infringement. After all, these threats compromise not only companies' revenue, but also their credibility, competitiveness, and innovation through:
- Financial losses: Here comes the reduction in sales and conversions to the original channels, devaluing and diluting the official brand;
- Damage to reputation: the misuse of a brand generates negative associations with low quality products, affecting the trust of its consumers;
- Reduction of investments and partnerships: companies that face constant trademark violations may struggle to attract investors and close strategic partnerships due to the risk involved in the business;
- Consumer health and safety risks: in sectors such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, counterfeit products can pose real risks to people's health and safety, leading to negative impacts on the brand and possible lawsuits;
- Legal and operational risks: your brand may pay for the lack of adequate protection, suffering from high legal costs.
That is, ensuring the digital protection of your brand is not only a matter of maintaining the exclusivity of your name and visual identity, but also of ensuring the security of your business and the consumer.
So how do you keep your brand protected against piracy and brand violations?
Although actions such as the partnership between France and Brazil are essential to create a global movement to create a future free from these threats, the protection of your company cannot wait. After all, ignoring current risks can mean irreversible losses for your business.
And that's exactly where Branddi works: using Shielding marketing to ensure that your brand reaches that future protected and prepared to face digital challenges.
